Deadline Approaching to Apply for Tree Voucher Program

Date of Release:
December 08, 2025

The Paducah Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications through January 9 for the Tree Voucher Program, an initiative that supports local homeowners in enhancing the city’s tree canopy. This program provides owners of single-family residential properties within the Paducah city limits with a $250 voucher to purchase shade trees from local participating nurseries. This initiative is designed to encourage Paducah homeowners to plant trees on their private property to enhance Paducah’s tree canopy and ensure that future generations benefit from the beauty, shade, and environmental value of mature trees.

The Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with James Sanders Nursery and Edwards Nursery to offer a variety of approved shade tree species. Once a voucher is redeemed, the nursery will invoice the City of Paducah for the cost of the trees up to $250.  Property owners are responsible for any additional expenses, including planting, delivery, and ongoing maintenance.

The Tree Voucher Program focuses exclusively on shade trees, not ornamental varieties, and includes specific guidelines on eligible species and sizes. Full program details and the online application are available at Tree Voucher Program, or applications can be submitted in person at the Parks and Recreation Office, 2701 Park Avenue, during regular business hours.

Following the review process, vouchers will be distributed in February 2026, allowing participants to purchase trees in time for the spring planting season. The City of Paducah has allocated $150,000 for this program, with vouchers valid through December 2026.
